This time last year, the release slate of films coming out in 2012 looked too good to be true. 2012 offered chances to see Batman, Spider-Man, Hobbits, James Bond, The Avengers, and films from some of the best filmmakers working today. Now a majority of the most anticipated movies of the year have opened, some to massive success, others much less so. There have been some great movies this year (Moonrise Kingdom, The Cabin in the Woods, The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises) but there have been just as many disappointments (The Hunger Games, The Amazing Spider-Man, Prometheus, Dark Shadows).

Now there's only four months left in 2012. The year is almost over, but some of the most exciting and interesting films have yet to be released. This fall will see new films from Steven Spielberg, P.T. Anderson, Quentin Tarantino, Sam Mendes, Robert Zemeckis, Peter Jackson, David O. Russell, Tim Burton, and many more. Will this Oscar season of movies prove to be as disappointing as the months that preceded it, or could 2012 end up rivaling years as classic as 2007? Here are ten films that have yet to be released that you should be excited for.

10. Flight

It's been a long time since Robert Zemeckis directed a live action movie, and even longer since he's directed anything great. I would have been excited for whatever movie Zemeckis chose to do as his return to live action, but Flight looks like it could be one of the year's best. Flight tells the true story of Captain William Whitaker (Denzel Washington) and the investigation into his emergency landing which saved the lives of every person on board. The glimpses of the emergency landing from the trailer look fantastic, and even if the movie as a whole doesn't deliver, that scene looks like a standout. Flight will be in theaters on November 2nd.
