10 Most Brutal Fight Scenes In Movie History

8. Rocky 3

All the way through the Rocky films we€™ve been told that Rocky will always win because he just wants it more than anyone else. He€™s got the most heart, and this translates into him being able to soak up the most damage before launching back into the fight. It€™s a curious strategy that won€™t do him any favours in old age, but it seems pretty effective and allowed him to take the title from Apollo Creed at the second time of asking. Ye in Rocky 3, they add Mr. T into the equation, and things get very ridiculous very quickly. Playing Clubber Lang, the man formerly known as BA Baracus cut an imposing figure and upset the apple-cart in a massive way, helping Rocky gradually slide to a brutal defeat. More cartoonish than other boxing films but brutal nonetheless, Lang brutalises Rocky so badly that if it were real life, the referee would have stopped the fight even before the second round even began. It€™s undoubtedly traumatic, and made all the worse by the fact it€™s Rocky receiving a ferocious beating. You can't underestimate the Italian Stallion's status €“ to a lot of people, Mr. T was giving their childhood a beating, and to others, he was giving an American symbol a beating. What makes it more brutal is that Balboa does that most un-Rocky thing €“ he doesn€™t get up. Instead, he€™s left a battered, bloody heap on the canvas, with Lang just yelling at him.
