10 Most Disappointing Harry Potter Movie Moments
2. Umbridge’s Time As Headmistress – The Order Of The Phoenix
When Umbridge takes over the school in the movie version of The Order of the Phoenix, she has no difficulty asserting her authority and brings every aspect of Hogwarts under her personal control. And with the exception of Fred and George, no one does anything to rebel against her regime.
In the original, nothing could be further from the truth. As well as the troubles caused by the Weasley twins, Umbridge has to put up with Dungbombs, Stinkpellets, Skiving Snackboxes, Nifflers, and – of course – Peeves the Poltergeist.
Even the other members of staff resist the new Headmistress. McGonagall helps Peeves unwind a chandelier and Professor Flitwick doesn’t remove Fred and George’s enchanted swamp despite having the ability to do so.
In essence, the problem with the movie is that once the DA is discovered, the rebellious side of the story almost evaporates. The chaos Umbridge has to endure in the original story is much more entertaining.
