Long before he was playing the oddball sidekick in the likes of Joe Dirt and Click, Christopher Walken had a made a name for himself playing wild-eyed psychopaths with an air of cool around them. But it's his effortless blend of comedic lunacy and overt cold-bloodness as a Stalin-esque oppressor in The Rundown that stands out in his action movie oeuvre. In a movie that sees Dwayne Johnson and Sean William Scott bantering like a jacked version of Abbott and Costello, it's somehow Walken to walks away with the best lines. Whether it's his quintessentially Walken-esque explanation of how the Tooth Fairy operates ("she takes the goddamn thing, gives you a quarter") or his deadpan reaction when someone accuses him of reneging on a deal ("well thankfully I had my fingers crossed the whole time"), Walken always leaves a scene without overstaying his welcome. Hatcher isn't as extravagant as some of his other bad guys, but he's the closest thing to Walken just going his thing. And that's a beautiful thing to behold.
