The Black Widow is an incredibly compelling character in either universe, but in the MCU, she really shines. Never mind the sleek, black-leather combat suit, her formidable martial arts skills, or the essence and necessity of a powerful female character; there is a mysterious history to this character that has yet to be revealed in the MCU. Natasha Romanovs initial presence in the Hulk and Iron Man films was essentially minimal. Her association with Nick Fury as his trusted aide-de-camp however, established her as an essential link among all the recent films in the MCU that led up to The Avengers. This not only makes her a consistent thread but also a trusted one. However, we know very little about her background more about her abilities and Captain America: The Winter Soldier showed us that she is deadly but loyal, and nothing more. Hints of her shadowy background begin to appear in this film. There were mentions of her KGB background, her similarity in training to Bucky Barnes, and this all leads to an abundance of potential story material that this character can offer the MCU. In terms of films, The Black Widow can contribute storylines to another Captain America film as well as another Avengers film, but who knows? Maybe she could wind up working for the newly dismantled SHIELD in the television show? The point is, with her enigmatic past, she could fit in well in any Marvel production; maybe even her own. Who doesnt love a mystery and Scarlett Johansson?
