Fight choreography doesn't get a whole lot stiffer than this, in Andy Bauman's only film to date, as he faces off against Carel Struycken - yes, that's Lurch from The Addams Family. Struycken is obviously supposed to be the hulking, imposing threat that might end the protagonist's quest, but the filmmakers have clearly attempted to coast on his novel value rather than actually find someone with experience in action and martial arts. Thankfully the scene is mercifully short - running just shy of a minute - but Struycken's slow, ambling lunges and blocks are hilariously phoney, while Bauman isn't a whole lot better himself; it appears as if the entire scene was shot in a slow style that should have been speeded up, but the guy in the edit suite never got the memo. That Struycken's weak throw causes Bauman to fly through a window, then, is the icing on the cake.
