10. Oil Truck Tanker Escape (Fast & Furious)

The fourth entry into the F&F franchise largely keeps itself grounded, with the gang squaring off against a drug running cartel moving its shipments across the US/Mexican border.

In the opening scene we see a truck hauling multiple petrol tankers across the desert, with a street value of millions. Dom’s gang swoop in to perform a deadly high-speed heist, individually separating each tanker and making off with the precious liquid cargo.

Except things don’t go smoothly, as Dom and Letty find themselves blocked off at the bottom of a hill, with a fiery out of control tanker literally flipping its way towards them. Dom, cool as a cucumber, puts his motor into drive, spinning up his tires.

Just before the lovers meet their end in a big ol’ metal petrol fuelled BBQ, Dom releases the brake, sending their car hurtling towards the spinning wreck, and deftly powerslides under the tanker as it flips over them, colliding with the rest of the truck in an epic explosion.

For any other action film, this might be a set-piece finale. But here, we’re just getting started.
