Not a great deal is known about the sci-fi thriller film Apex. The movie was originally pitched rather interestingly as Predator meets Call of Duty which will centre on a Special Ops team sent to retrieve a WMD from North Korea, only to be transported to another world. Sounds rather a lot like the Crysis series, right? Anyway, once in this vague other world the crack team of troopers will be pitted against a dangerous alien race. After this incredibly imprecise synopsis, we were given far more insight into the project this week when Darren Lynn Bousman was announced as being the films director. Darren Lynn Bousman was once regarded as one of the exciting horror directors on the scene, best known for having directed several of the Saw movies. Bousmans direction of Apex announces the fact that the sci-fi film will be far darker than the original synopsis suggested and will likely involve some of the Call of Duty-esque soldiers meeting their demise in unspeakably horrific ways. We will likely receive even more information on Apex at Comic Con in San Diego later this month.
