Who The Character Is: Played with creepy conviction by Evan Bird, Benjie Weiss is Hollywood's newest pipsqueak-star in the making in David Cronenberg's Maps To The Stars. He's a secretly bad boy actor who thinks nothing of casually declaring how much money his last movie made at the box office (over $700 million, for the record) or of showing off his power by saying the most odious things with impunity. Who He Really Is: Reports differ, but critics seemed to almost unanimously agree that Benjie Weiss was modelled after Justin Bieber, with the style, look and even sound of the character appearing to confirm it. Others have pointed out Benjie channels a young Macaulay Culkin, while Bird's Maps co-star John Cusack has gone on record to say he himself was Benjie in his youth. Whatever the case, Benjie Weiss is - like so many characters in Cronenberg's Hollywood satire - a definite f**k you to somebody in the biz. It's just not quite clear who.
