10 Movie Characters Cut From Sequels (In The Worst Way)

1. Newt, Hicks And Bishop - Alien 3

20th Century Fox

Aliens might be pretty grim, but it at least ends with some triumph as Ripley escapes with fellow survivors Newt, Hicks and what's left of the android Bishop. Little did we know that that happiness simply would not last.

Why They Were Written Out

Despite that ending setting up more story possibilities for all of the characters, Alien 3 took so long that they couldn't be followed through on. By the time it came to filming it, Michael Biehn had scheduling conflicts and Carrie Henn, who played Newt, was no longer acting. She was also 16 rather than 10 as the character would have required.

So instead of recasting, Fox instead went with the darker decision to just kill everyone.

How They Were Written Out

Alien 3 opened with a bang, quite literally as the Sulaco ferrying Ripley and the others crashed on the prison planet. Hicks was impaled, Newt drowned and Bishop was deactivated to leave Ripley alone again.
