10 Movie Fan Theories EVERYONE Believed
10. Captain America Dies - Captain America: Civil War
The Theory
Captain America (Chris Evans) will be killed off at the end of Captain America: Civil War.
Why Everyone Believed It
This was a really simple one: it happened in the comics. Shortly after Civil War, Cap is shot and killed by Crossbones and a brainwashed Sharon Carter, and while fans weren't necessarily expecting Cap to die precisely this way in the movie, his demise still seemed like a sure bet.
After all, Cap's death would've been a suitably traumatic event to bring the warring Avengers back together, and given that Steve Rogers is very much the "conscience" of the group, his death would've had a sufficiently uniting impact.
What Actually Happened
Crossbones (Frank Grillo) was legit killed at the start of the movie and nowhere to be seen in the finale, while Cap survived his climactic fight with Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) to fight another day.
Better still, Cap not only made it through Civil War, but actually got to the end of Avengers: Endgame in one piece, which might be the biggest surprise of all.
Despite being hyped up as an epic slug-fest for the ages, Civil War's body count was shockingly low on the whole, with no major superheroes ending up on a slab at all.
The Russos did state that they toyed with the idea of killing off Cap, but in typically subversive MCU fashion, they quickly nixed it. In fairness, it would've been super predictable - hence why everyone believed it.
