10 Movie Franchises That Died In 2015

5. Spooks

The Franchise: Spooks is the hugely successful British answer to Fox's 24: a high-octane spy thriller series which made egregious use of split screens, and ran for 10 seasons from 2002 to 2011. Various books and video games have also established a wider Spooks universe. How It Died: 2015 saw the arrival of the long-awaited movie spin-off, Spooks: The Greater Good, a neither good nor especially terrible but wildly generic spy flick, failing to make the most of Kit Harrington's addition to the cast. The film has only grossed $4.7 million to date, and considering that its slick stylings ensure it wasn't an ultra-low budget affair, it doesn't seem primed to be successful in the long run. Though this was obviously conceived with the hope of kick-starting a movie series, it's safe to say that Spooks is now finished.
