2. Captain Jack Sparrow - Pirates of the Caribbean series
Why Is He An Idiot? He's the worst pirate you've ever heard of, but you have heard of him. The fumbling, swashbuckling pirate mishap, Sparrow begins his onscreen adventures having lost his ship and been dumped by his crew. Several failed exploits lead to his imprisonment, which is soon reversed by his much abler, to-be pirate partner, Will Turner. The duo travel across the seas, searching for the Black Pearl, but at every avenue betrayal, greed, back-stabbing, drinking and general stupidity takes over, mostly coming straight from Jack and no-one else. What Jack lacks in any useful pirating accolades, he makes up for in his connections and the rumors around him. Everybody knows about Jack, or about he did this, or that, or escaped a desert island with a mast made from his own back hair. Where these rumors stem is up fro debate, but I believe they mostly come straight from the horses mouth, making them even sillier, yet smarter. Jack is a legend for being the stupidest pirate still breathing, even if that stops shortly near the end of the first film. However, the sequels don't see life get much easier for the bumbling Captain, as his moronic debts to Davy Jones are to be repaid even as he is chased by angry cannibals. The less said about the latest film, the better. Top Idiotic Moment As Jack's crew make their final stand against the superior Black Pearl, all Jack cares about is finding the final piece of cursed Aztec gold, currently in possession of Jack (not him, they named a monkey Jack). What follows is a ridiculously precarious chase sequence across the two ships, ending with Jacks sporadic leap of faith... straight into Captain Barbossa and the pirate crew that want him dead. But, knowing Jack, he'll find a way out of it. He always does, as the next segment shows. How He Saved the Day Does the fact he saves the day make him more of an idiot because he tries to be the bad pirate? Or does the fact he is terrible at being the bad pirate make him save the day? Either way, Jack, despite his best intentions, somehow saves each situation, from plucking the drowning Elizabeth from the rocky sea all the way up to stopping Davy Jones and sacrificing immortality for Will. Again, the less about the fourth film, the better. To conclude, Jack is the ultimate idiotic good guy because he tries to be the intelligent bad guy. All his back stabbing and double crossing forms a neat line to the conclusion.
