After sitting through his ridiculous antics as an Admiral in the first Hot Shots! film, who would have expected that the second time around, he would actually have become President? And that's the first punch line in a series of many concerning the US's Commander in Chief, who is played here with a loveable buffoonishness by the legendary Lloyd Bridges. A President who, despite his clear age, isn't afraid to kick some ass, Benson faces off against Saddam Hussein in a duel that ultimately ends up rather hilariously spoofing Terminator 2; he is a light example of a POTUS who will put his own livelihood on the line despite having plenty of people who could do it for him. But more crucially, he reminds us that nobody gets out alive in the end anyway, so you may as well have a laugh with life, even if you are the so-called "Leader of the Free World".
