10 Movie Remakes You Had No Idea Were Even Happening

7. Commando (1985)

Commando is one of many Arnold Schwarzenegger movies that require him to look big and fire guns at a seemingly endless stream of enemies. The original flick isn't considered to be one of Arnie's best films - I mean, he plays a character called John Matrix, for God's sake - but it's absolutely one of the best action movies to have come out of the '80s. The plot, which is thin, can pretty much be summed up as "a retired Black Ops commando wages war against a small private army." Not that that's a bad thing, of course. Will The Remake Be Any Good? David Ayers of Training Day fame has written the script. This is what the producer John Davis had to say on the matter:
"We have a really great script. You know, I don€™t know if it really makes sense to call it Commando. Maybe it does or maybe it doesn€™t. It is the reboot of it and all of that stuff."
So it's a remake of Commando, definitely, but it doesn't make sense to call it Commando? "Maybe it does or maybe it doesn't" kind of feels like a synonym for "I don't know what I'm saying right now." And maybe he doesn't. Maybe John Davis has no idea what he's doing, or why he's talking, or for what reason he's remaking Commando. Or maybe he does.
