Oh, God. Oh, no. Oh, man. How did this actually happen? How did this legitimately occur, to the point where people got together, agreed to make it, and eventually found their way onto a movie set, where they all stood around and watched as an Oscar-winning actor got into a suit that should have been fitted on a child, and pranced around pretending he was Pinocchio? Yes, this is the passion project that Roberto Benigni set is sights upon following Life is Beautiful. Pinocchio is weird. Really weird. I mean, the movie is weird anyway, but it's made super-weird by the fact that Benigni genuinely thought it was some kind of masterstroke to cast himself as the main character, who - for all intents and purposes - is supposed to be a child. Watching this once respected actor playing this role is beyond creepy - it's almost as if he set out to sabotage his career. I would bet money on the fact that Benigni was, say, 70% insane when he made this.
