2. The Fly (1986)

Normally we don€™t think of flies as a predator, they€™re just some insect that feels the impact of the back of our hands every now and again. But as Seth Brundle learned, sometimes they can really muck up your life€™s work. Fancy being able to transport from LA to London in an instant? Out of all the science experiments featured on this list teleportation is the one which does seem the most exciting to the average commoner. Seth had the same idea as us when he decided to create the transportation Telepod devices, where objects could be transported from one Telepod to the other. One problem was that living organisms couldn€™t transport without something going wrong. Again an ape (this time a baboon) was forced into one of the machines and he turned inside-out. After solving this slight issue and depressed on drink, Seth decides to have a ride on his invention - not releasing a fly is in the pod with him. It€™s not too difficult to picture what happens next. Seth loses his fingernails, weird hair grows from his wounds and he can climbs walls. It€™s like some pathetic Spider-man. Alas, he is a hybrid fly. The baboon experiment foretold that the machine was a bit faulty and the merging of the two life forms suggests we will be staying clear of Telepods in the future because really, whose ambition is to become a fly?
