Another popular franchise that went downhill after the protagonists had kids was Shrek. In Shrek The Third, the most famous ogre in film and his wife Fiona had triplets: Farkle, Fergus and Felicia. They are pretty much miniature Shreks that do little more than echo their dad's antics through puerile scatological jokes involving earwax, farts, and the whole lot. In a constant failed attempt to exploit the "aww" factor, the franchise struggled to advance and maintain the original Shrek's quality.
