10 Movie Storylines Actors REFUSED To Do
10. Rachel Weisz Didn't Want Her Character To Have A 21-Year-Old Son - Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor
After starring alongside the wonderful Brendan Fraser in both The Mummy and its sequel The Mummy Returns, Rachel Weisz eventually decided not to return as Evelyn Carnahan for The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.
The star herself would eventually explain to Digital Spy that she didn't even end up reading a script for that threequel, claiming that the fact she'd have to head out to China for five months after finishing her last film, The Brothers Bloom, was what led to her not appearing in the film.
However, according to Tomb of the Dragon Emperor's director Rob Cohen, that wasn't the real reason Weisz opted not to make an Evelyn comeback.
Cohen told Heat (via Digital Spy) that he was informed by the actor's - quite angry - representative that Weisz wasn't impressed by the script at all, with the then-37-year-old Weisz outright refusing to play a character with a 21-year-old son.
So, while Weisz claims she didn't like the idea of being away from home for so long after just wrapping another film, Cohen remembered the events differently and responded to the star's apparent refusal to accept her character's part as the mother of an older son in the storyline by recasting Maria Bello in the role for the 2008 picture.
