4. The Babadook

For all its attempts to send a chill down our spines, the recent trailer to The Woman In Black: Angel Of Death has nothing on The Babadook. Coming out of nowhere, this Australian horror got a lot of buzz and promised us something utterly terrifying; The Woman In Black meets The Omen meets The Orphanage.Deeply unsettling, the trailer has a narrative structure of its own, beginning with a creepy children€™s book, you witness a mother haunted by something terrible, something that has seemingly possessed her son. Obviously with any good horror move, the proof is in the film itself, but this trailer suggested that it might just be one of the scariest films in years. It plays on our fears for our children, the terror of something lurking in our home and imagination becoming real. The trailer is scary and that in itself promised great things.
