While out promoting his new film John Wick, Mr. Reeves was asked by The Nerdist whether he would ever contemplate doing a Speed 3. Rather than giving the predictable response that most people would expect of not in a million years, Reeves actually seemed to be rather open to the idea of a third film in the series. The actors comments may have been obviously tongue-in-cheek:
"Speed 3: Redemption," before he then proclaimed, "Sure. Jack Traven just dusting it off."
But considering in all prior interviews the actor had shrugged off the question with various answers usually culminating in a "not likely" answer, this new standpoint may be a real signal that Reeves is actually interested in returning to a role he last played 20 years ago. Speed 2 did feature the character of Jack Traven, but the role was performed by a different actor, and received poor reviews from critics. A bus and a cruise ship have both been done though, so what vehicle could Speed 3 take place on. A plane? How about a giant passenger train? The possibilities aren't endless, but there's certainly room for at least one more film in the series.
