Every great movie needs a great villain, but sometimes, movies come up a little short. This can of course be on purpose - because everyone loves a good comic relief bad guy - but it generally isn't, hence why the vast majority of the films on this list aren't very good at all. Writing a bad guy who is uniquely terrifying and entertaining to watch is one thing, but the writers of these films had nothing; they couldn't convince us of the character's villainy, and were usually unaided by the ridiculous performances given by the actors, who clearly knew they were acting in a dud in some cases... But not all these films are bad; in a few cases the villain is supposed to be a bumbling idiot, though these instances are few and far between. Nevertheless, here are 10 movie villains impossible to take seriously...
10. General Grievous (Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith)
The trailers for Star Wars Episode III built General Grievous up as offering a palpable threat to Obi-Wan and company, given that with his four arms, he would be able to wield four light-sabers at once, yet when it comes to brass tacks, he proves an oddly boring baddie who is more a comedy punchline than a viable force standing in the protagonist's way. Grievous is a cyborg with lungs, and apparently needs to cut back on his cigar smoking, because he spends a good deal of his screen time coughing and wheezing like an old man. Though the guy sounds menacing enough, but spends far too much of the film fleeing from the Jedi, and when it finally comes down to a mano-y-robo stand-off, he is bested with surprising ease by Obi-Wan, being incinerated from the inside out.
