The disastrous Super Mario Bros. adaptation is a film in which no actor gets out alive, least of all Dennis Hopper, whose hilariously hammy performance as King Koopa is nevertheless one of the pic's demented highlights. What's most troubling is that the movie Koopa looks absolutely nothing like the video game version; in the games, he was huge, green, had spikes on his back, and was basically this terrifying, fire-breathing reptile. Here he's Dennis Hopper kitted out with an absolutely ridiculous haircut that is truly beyond description - see it for yourself above. Given that the film is one of those classic cinematic atrocities that's just impossible to look away from, being unable to take the villain seriously is really the least of it. Still, props to Hopper for amusing the Hell out of us.
