10 Movies That Should Have Cult Followings By Now

6. The Punisher

Year Of Release: 2004 Rotten Tomatoes Score: 29% Sure, it€™s fair to say that the second film adaptation of The Punisher comic book series has the makeup of a by-the-numbers revenge thriller, but it€™s everything that a bloody revenge thriller is supposed to be. The Punisher may be one of the darkest comic book heroes ever created and his life mission is to seek revenge on the criminals that murdered his family, so what else would audiences be expecting? It€™s not too cartoonish like most comic adaptations typically are, but it doesn€™t take itself too seriously and has a good balance of over the top violence, action, drama, and humor. Thomas Jane gives a great performance as the revenge seeking vigilante and John Travolta gives an underrated performance as the cutthroat mob boss. The film is a pleasant surprise and definitely the best Punisher adaptation out of the three. Even if you€™re unfamiliar with the source material you should definitely get some enjoyment out of it, especially if you€™re a fan of the genre. The 2004 adaptation has been around for over a decade but even today it€™s still considered a €œbad€ Marvel movie by fans and audiences. Maybe in a few year€™s time more fans will come around and show appreciation for what it is: a satisfying revenge thriller.
