10 Movies Everyone Thought Were Sequels (But Weren't)

7. Troll 2

Troll 2 is one of the most infamous bad movies of all time - an outcome that becomes even funnier when you consider that it's not actually a sequel at all.

Troll 2 was filmed under the title Goblins, but its American distributors decided to market it instead as a sequel to the 1986 horror film Troll, to which it is entirely unrelated otherwise.

Hell, Troll 2 doesn't even feature trolls in it - the movie revolves around murderous goblins and takes place in the town of Nilbog ("goblin" backwards, get it?).

Because this isn't hilariously headache-inducing enough, two movies were then released under the title Troll 3 in 1990 and 1991 respectively, even though neither were actually sequels to Troll 2.

The first one, otherwise known as Quest for the Mighty Sword, is only associated with Troll 2 because it re-used some of the production's goblin masks. 

The second Troll 3, The Crawlers, has no links to Troll 2 at all, given that it doesn't even feature trolls or goblins in it. Wild.
