10 Movies Fans Want To See That Marvel Studios Won't Make
Marvel fans want these movies, but they're not coming to the MCU any time soon...
If there's something Marvel Studios has succeeded at from the very start, it's making comic book fans happy. Despite taking liberties with the source material over the years, it's never been done in a way that alienates the people that have grown up with characters like Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man.
However, that doesn't mean the Marvel Cinematic Universe has always delivered, and there remain a long list of characters to have never been given the opportunity to grace the big screen in their own movies. Fans have made it known that they want these to happen, but an apparent lack of interest from the studio (Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige can't be a fan of everyone) has seemingly stopped that.
The MCU has expanded massively in recent years, and will continue to do so over the next few years thanks to a massive Phase 4 slate and the decision to bring this shared world to the small screen via the Disney+ streaming service. Unfortunately, this lot probably won't end up being among them!
With that in mind, this feature takes a look at the movies Marvel Studios simply will not make, along with why they haven't happened, and whether that could finally change in the not too distant future...
10. Daredevil
Way back in 2012, the rights to the Daredevil franchise were just weeks away from returning to Marvel Studios because Fox had been unable to get a new movie into active production. Now, you might think Kevin Feige would have been salivating at the possibility of getting his hands on the Man Without Fear, but he instead offered the rival studio a deal.
That was to give Marvel Studios access to Galactus and Silver Surfer in exchange for getting to keep Daredevil. Now, no one can blame Feige for wanting those classic Fantastic Four baddies for the Infinity Saga, but when Fox refused, he just let Daredevil pass into the hands of Marvel Television. What followed was a hit-and-miss TV series on Netflix that has now been cancelled.
Fans remain desperate for some sort of return to the screen for Daredevil, but it's highly unlikely Feige would want to continue the stories told in that TV show. A big screen reboot, meanwhile, is probably a long way off, and not something Marvel Studios appear to be remotely interested in making a reality. As a result, it's looking like Matt Murdock is set to return to purgatory for the foreseeable.
