Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure came out in 1989, swiftly followed by Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey in 1991. It's been nearly three decades since Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter beguiled us as a couple of time-travelling moronic musicians, and rumours of a third film have been doing the rounds for pretty much all of that time.

Reeves went on to become a huge movie star, appearing in smash hits like Speed and The Matrix, and seemed to have put Bill & Ted behind him. However, back in 2010, the rumours really started to take off, with reports stating that a script was being written and Reeves and Winter were on board.

Reeves even confirmed the stories and earlier this year, Bill & Ted Face the Music was revealed as the new name for the project. Various people have since been attached to the movie and it seemed to be a done deal, but Reeves has recently revealed that Bill & Ted 3 isn't such a sure thing after all, citing issues with financing and rights as potential hurdles for the project to overcome if it ever hopes to be released.
