10 Movies That Made You Say 'WTF Were They Thinking'

2. Re-Releasing Just To Bomb Again - Morbius

It's not just Marvel Studios that's had a rough time in recent years, as Sony's own superhero universe has struggled to get off the ground. Thanks to delays and offscreen issues, there are still only three titles in the franchise, one of which is the critically-panned Morbius.

The Jared Leto-led movie failed in every possible metric. With a Rotten Tomatoes score of 15% and bringing in just $167 million at the box office, Morbius became one of the biggest flops of the decade. It even became the subject of a ruthlessly sarcastic viral trend that saw viewers ironically praising it. It was brutal.

It would seem that Sony somehow mistook such sarcasm for sincerity however, as the studio decided to re-release the movie in 1000 cinemas across the USA two months after its initial release. As if the memes hadn't made Morbius a laughing stock already, bombing twice in cinemas took things to a whole new level.

This second stint in cinemas raked in a measly $280,000 over the weekend. How anyone could have mistaken the berating by internet trolls for genuine interest in the movie is baffling... yet highly amusing at the same time.
