10 Movies That Secretly Revealed Their Endings

2. Fight Club - The Narrator Fights Himself

David Fincher's Fight Club has become such an institution in film pop culture, that it's hard to believe it was originally poorly received. It was panned for its hyper-bravado and criticised for seeming to inscite violence. Its reception at the Venice Film Festival was apparently so bad, it left a very stoned Brad Pitt and Edward Norton in fits of giggles. Now it's considered a cult classic in cinema.

The coming of age movie - for 30 year olds, who suddenly wake up and realise they've spent their 20s living someone else's life - struck a chord among a '90s audience who was brought up on advertising and consumerism.

Throughout the movie the Narrator (Edward Norton) tells the story of how his life was forever changed when he met Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt). Durden represents everything the Narrator isn't: He's cool, he's confident, he's good looking, and most importantly he doesn't seem shackled by society. The big reveal? Durden was a figment of the Narrator's imagination, who was adopting the character to escape his own life.

Fincher laced clues to this reveal throughout the movie. Watching back it's almost obvious but during a first viewing, things move so fast it's easy to miss. The most obvious reveal is when the Narrator is seen beating himself up in his boss's office. He states: "For some reason I thought about my first fight, with Tyler...", a pretty glaring clue that his first fight with Tyler was actually with himself...
