10 Movies That Tricked You Into Thinking They Were Over

2. Cabin In The Woods (2012)

The "False" Ending... Having been put through a series of events that perfectly mimic those you might glimpse in an '80s slasher movie, last survivor Dana ("The Virgin") finds herself being beaten to a pulp by a zombie. Underground, a group of scientists cheers to their success. They've been manipulating the whole thing, of course, taking bets and killing off the teens. Job done, they party and celebrate Dana's death, and things look ready to wrap up. But Wait...Cabin In The Woods could have finished right then and still have been considered an ample and intelligent meta meditation on the '80s slasher movie, but audiences we kind of shocked to discover that - at this point - there was a whole other act awaiting them. A ringing phone with a blinking red light suddenly informs us that the movie isn't over, and that there is another survivor: Marty ("The Fool"). Much to the scientist's dismay, Marty rescues Dana and the pair find their way into the underground facility, where they spend the next 20 minutes battling all kinds of horrific beasts and monsters that are being stored there, only to unleash them upon the workers who have just murdered a bunch of their friends. It's the best part of the movie, and one that almost nobody would have been expecting. Genius, really.
