Sometimes we just need a good cry. What better way to get the tears flowing than to watch our favorite tear jerker with Moms handmade afghan wrapped around our shoulders? Sometimes, we dont want to cry and its then that we choose our movies carefully. Very carefully. Some movies can be deceptively sad. The dreaded Marley & Me fiasco has sworn me off of romantic comedies focused around family pets all because of its false advertising. However, there are some very honest trailers that let us know what we will be in for, should we be gluttons for such punishment. In fact, there have been several trailers that made me cry on their own. Some movies take the easy way out by choosing an event in history that we all know to be tragic. At any rate, the saddest of the sad movies are generally up front about the emotional roller coaster theyll be sending us on and there are times when we are okay with it. Apart from being belligerently drunk, we are only given few other opportunities to cry in public. Car accidents, public break ups, and, yes, movies. Nothing gives us more of a rush than letting the sobs explode all over other weeping audience members in the big black box we call a movie theater. We all instantly become friends, sympathizing with our neighbors, offering tissues, etc. It brings us together as a group. The following is a list of movies that we went to go see at the theaters knowing full well that they were going to make us cry. Although its rare to see these in theaters anymore, save for a revival or anniversary or re-release into 3D, it is still okay for us to gather a group of friends and have a giant cry-fest in our living rooms, bonding as a group over the hardships of others.
