For awhile now, Amazing Spider-Man 2 writer/producer Alex Kurtzman has been tentatively attached to a Venom project for Sony. Now that Marvel Studios has struck a deal with Sony to include Spider-Man in the MCU, it's only fitting that any potential Venom film fall under the Marvel banner. Venom is such a great character when he is done well. He often rides the line between good and evil. Sometimes a villain, other times a vigilante, the Eddie Brock version of Venom is a troubled and complex person whose relationship with the Venom symbiote makes for a very compelling character. Much like Wilson Fisk in the Daredevil series, you don't whether to love or hate him. The new Spider-Man film is set to release in 2017 and the last Phase 3 film, The Inhumans, will come out in 2019. This gives Marvel plenty of time to put together a quality script and cast for Venom. If a strong foundation is set with the Spider-Man reboot and a good actor is put into the role (Armie Hammer?), the dark nature of Venom would make for an awesome addition to Phase 4.
