10 Movies With Ant-Sized Characters You Have To See

7. Attack Of The Puppet People (1958)

In Attack of the Puppet People, yet another mad scientist figures out how to shrink living things, so naturally he shrinks his victims and keeps them as a part of his doll collection. How creepy is that?

A group of characters get shrunk down and all have the shocking realization of how much bigger everything around them is, with a telephone now nearly the size of their full bodies. The scientist has come prepared, though: he has an entire fridge full of adorable tiny food and drinks for them. Something about the image of a finger sized bottle of champagne is just so hilarious.

The victims use the cord of a phone like rope, they climb up a cabinet, and one character even takes a bath in a coffee can. The special effects are solid in the room, but once outside they quickly take a turn for the worse, and the actors are very clearly just standing in front of a projected background.

But it’s still fun to see them walking around the streets all while doll sized, and there’s a great moment near the end where they’re confronted by a dog who from their perspective is like a giant monster. It’s as schlocky as the title suggests, but Attack of the Puppet people is a cheesy good time with all the shrinking goodness you’d want.
