10. Thanos Destroys Xandar - Avengers: Infinity War

One of the many surprising elements of Avengers: Infinity War was that the film opened with Thanos (Josh Brolin) having already acquired the Power Stone from Xandar, destroying the Nova Corps and decimating the planet in the process.

It was a moment audiences expected to see, and one which was even included in earlier drafts of the script, yet was ultimately cut to avoid storytelling repetition.

While you can certainly see where the Russos and writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely were coming from, it goes without saying that the sight of Thanos slaughtering the Nova Corps and wrecking Xandar would make for an eye-opening set-piece to kick the movie off.

Though many fans are hopeful that a flashback to Xandar's destruction could appear in a potential Nova movie, Kevin Feige might decide that there's just too much anticipation at this point, and so it's simply better left up to fans' imaginations.

The fans, of course, will beg to differ.
