It's been said many times, the guy has two Oscars. It's hard to argue against this, but people still do. What is overlooked, is simply that every actor, every director, everyone in the industry has "Paying their dues" films on their resume. Even when they've "made it" in the industry (define that as you see fit), every great actor has films they wish they never made. Yet, those films are necessary! It helps the actor grow in their craft. Consider virtually all the successful work Affleck has done for the last 10 years (12, by the time Batman vs Superman releases); he'll have a few other films out in the market by then as well. We hear the arguments about Argo and The Town used often. Rightly so, he won Oscars for Argo. itself winning 33 total awards, 3 of which were said Oscars. The Town, had over 16 award nominations, 4 of them specifically for Affleck's work. Let's consider some of this future Bats' other work. Gone Baby Gone, The Company Men, State of Play, Extract; or better yet, To The Wonder. An intelligent love story, with so many spiritual undertones, there's no necessity for any other critique aside from this it's a beautiful film, even if you're not into that sort of flick. Affleck has come a long way in his career to be ridiculed by fanboys that don't have a clue about this craft. Sure they know what they like and don't like in a comic movie, and that's respectable; the argument they simply don't like Affleck is fine. Trying to argue this accomplished Oscar winning director, and screenwriter, is not capable of acting is not respectable, and doesn't really make much sense. His bad films are deeply in his past, as lessons learned.
