According to Google's traditional end of year lists, fans are reminded each year of the biggest events, hottest news and most searched names of the preceding twelve months, like an insistent Internet History (though mercifully minus most of the rudest bits).
2014 was the year of inspirational speeches (though Emma Watson's woman of the year-making speech on feminism wasn't enough to make her a top searched name), huge castings and award wins, but oddly almost none of them had any impact on the most searched list. Instead, Google's users preferred reality TV, fake death announcements, strange awards speeches and nude photo hacks (inevitably), ignoring most of the artistic merit of almost all of the actresses who made the cut.
Thankfully some did make it thanks to their work, or for their inspirational moments, but some of the following names will undoubtedly come as a major shock - not least because of some of the names (including Watson) who didn't make it...
10. Jennifer Lawrence
Despite appearing in three films in 2014 (including Serena, that nobody actually saw), the sorry fact is that Lawrence's number 1 search ranking score was mostly down to the "Fappening", an unfortunately named "event" in which private photos of her were shared without her consent with the internet. Of course that would make her the most searched actress.
