10 Post-Credits Comic Book Film Scenes That Changed Everything

By Samuel Clements /

6. X-Men 3

The Last Stand was arguably the worst X-Men film as many of the main characters, including Professor Xavier, were killed off by Dark Phoenix. The post-credit scene of this film began to remedy this by showing that Xavier had moved his consciousness into an empty vessel. In the context of the first trilogy of X-Men films this is nothing spectacular; but this revelation changed the entire X-Men Universe by facilitating and enabling Patrick Stewart to return in Days of Future Past. Although we still don€™t quite know why he looks the same (and probably never will), this post-credit scene offers a slight salvation at the end of what is otherwise a poor film. This universe has now been wiped out and altered by the events of Days of Future Past, but the way that Xavier was shown to survive gave a slight hope of a sequel when the franchise appeared to be dying; this hope was mobilised by a flurry of new X-Men films, not starring Patrick Stewart, but his crucial inclusion to the latest X-Men film illustrates how fundamentally altering this post-credit scene was; it offers some semblance of an explanation when no other one has been provided to us.
