10. Secret Avengers Vs. New Avengers

At the end of Captain America: Civil War, Steve Rogers frees his loyalists, Clint Barton/Hawkeye, Sam Wilson/Falcon, Scott Lang/Ant-Man, and Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch from prison. They join T’Challa/Black Panther and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier in Wakanda and have set up a base of operations there. Cap sends Tony Stark/Iron Man a note promising that his new team of outlaws will still be available to help out when such a need arises. This team could be called the Secret Avengers.

In the comics, the Secret Avengers were a black ops team led by Steve during a period when he’d given up the mantle of Captain America, but the name is perfect for the movie’s team as well. The MCU has shown in the past that it has no problem with lifting the name of something from the comics and applying it to a movie with no resemblance to the original (see: Age of Ultron), so there’s nothing stopping them.

Also, back in 2004, following the Avengers: Disassembled event that saw the dissolution of the team, a new book was launched called New Avengers that had non-traditional members like Spider-Man (up until then, primarily a loner who, admittedly, seemed to team up with every single hero in the Marvel Universe) and Luke Cage (a definite C-Lister at the time).

What’s stopping Tony from forming his own “New Avengers” team with unorthodox members? He seems to be keeping tabs on super powered people since he was able to track down Peter Parker.

So perhaps the MCU will have two Avengers teams: one loyal to the government and one operating outside of the law.
