10 Questionable Criticisms Of Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice

10. Contrived Reasons For Batman And Superman Fighting

The Criticism: The titular fight between Batman and Superman didn’t make any sense. Batman justified his beliefs for wanting to take down Superman, but surely Superman could have just told him that his mother was being held hostage. Instead, Superman punches him for 10 minutes first, never revealing this and thus prolonging the main attraction of the film.

In addition, the timing was far too coincidental. Lex just happened to send Superman after Batman and the exact moment that Batman was gearing up to challenge him?

Why It’s Questionable: The circumstances of Batman and Superman fighting in the comics have always been forced. Whether it’s a mind-controlled Superman or two much older heroes in a dystopian future, the reason for them throwing down is always artificial. That's not to say the reason here is the most compelling, but it's worth noting that it has always required a suspension of disbelief.

This is simply the cost of titans fighting and surely most people will forgive the non-convincing reasons for why they did it when it provided one of the best scenes of the entire film.
