Theyve already spent $120 million on the Fantastic Four reboot. Why not throw some good money after the bad, and try to engineer a version which makes sense? Perhaps a version of the film could be made which doesnt suck quite as badly. It could be crafted to tie in with the sequel idea already mentioned, or simply stand alone as a DVD/Blu-Ray release. It might require a minor reshoot or two: it might only end up being an hour long, in which case Fox happen to run a television network that they could release the new cut on for free, as a kind of publicity coup. Regardless, even if its not setting up an upcoming sequel or geared up to recoup some of the money the film didnt make the first time around, posterity would appreciate the attempt and if its well received, maybe that would persuade 20th Century Fox executives to greenlight the sequel again.
