5. Fantastic Four Vs. The Secret Invasion

If Fox don€™t want to pollute their precious X-Universe with this quixotic quartet, then perhaps we could see a revival of the Fantastic Four brand on the big screen against another old school villain - the Skrulls. Shape-changing aliens who conquer through infiltration, the Skrulls have been Fantastic Four enemies for decades - the word is that Marvel Studios couldn€™t use them in the Avengers because the rights belonged to Fox, hence the use of the Chitauri instead. A secret alien invasion storyline is a completely different kind of narrative to the usual €˜megalomaniac attacks a single major urban landmark, causing massive property damage€™ style of third act, and could signal a shift in perception for the Fantastic Four, who€™d be forced to use means other than Big Punching to defeat their foes. Of course, given that the group features The Thing, there€™d still be plenty of Big Punching, especially as that Fantastic Four lore features a creature known as the Super-Skrull: a Skrull who somehow has the powers of all four members of the Fantastic Four themselves...
