4. Speech Impediment Swears

Speech impediments are no laughing matter €“ they can be the bane of sufferers' lives and lead to them never realising their dreams of being voice-over artists or British Rail platform announcers, and they are now considered so heinous that Colin Firth recently won an Oscar for his own efforts to conquer a viscious stammer that plagued him throughout filming of The King's Speech. We take you back to 1937, and the animated short The Clock Cleaners. It was an older time, a simpler time, when no-one questioned why Donald didn't wear pants, and accusations of questionable Disney behaviour was kept to a minimum thanks to the lack of internet and higher employment rates among young adults who thus had less time on their hands. The short featured Donald Duck fighting with a giant spring, which infuriated him so much through mimicry that he apparently loses it briefly and shouts €œeff you€ at the inanimate object. You have to admit, it's pretty compelling evidence... http://youtu.be/aN_7T0yRUuY What's that you say? Donald could be saying anything in that video? Well, this isn't the last time Disney apparently used a character's speech patterns to allegedly hide naughty grown-up words in a children's production. It also supposedly happened in Aladdin, in which the street rat's simian side-kick Abu supposedly utters a profanity - €œoh, sh*t!€ - when he's about to suffer a firey, lava-based death €“ as well as in the Lion King, where Rafiki is supposed to hide at least too profane phrases into his speech. The Explanation According to the script, Donald actually says €œSays you!€ Not all that convincing, but equally, the little white duck has such a massive problem with the simplest of words that it's not really too much of a stretch to accept it. The Aladdin example has a much more substantial explanation that relates to atmospheric noises interfering with the little monkey's exclamation of frustration that he is pretty much about to bite the big one.
