10 Reasons DCEU Movies Will Never Catch Up To The MCU
4. Throwing Everything At The Wall To See What Sticks Is Not The Right Approach
As it says above, throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks is not a smart approach to making movies, but it is one Warner Bros. has taken with the DCEU. When the studio still had the Harry Potter and The Hobbit franchises to fall back on, DC characters just weren't a priority; now, they're one of the only major franchises they have at their disposal.
For whatever reason, that's led to a mad scramble to develop films which, well, don't really need to be made. In recent years, it's been said that everything from Nightwing to Lobo and Batgirl were in development, while needless Wonder Woman and Aquaman spinoffs about the Amazon and Trench have also been made a priority at the studio.
That's baffling considering some of the characters who could be put in a film and find guaranteed success, but it points to a lack of understanding about which of these DC heroes and villains are actually suited to the silver screen. That's not a problem Marvel Studios has, hence why the planned Phase 4 (and rumoured Phase 5) slate looks so damn impressive.
