4. It's Got Terrific Comic Relief

Despite its aforementioned silliness, the original It took itself fairly seriously for the most part, while in the quest for a greater tonal balance, the remake has included a ton of terrifically entertaining comic relief.

The majority of this comedy comes from the mouth of Richie, whose cheeky one-liners add some welcome levity in-between Pennywise's unsettling appearances.

Thankfully Muschietti knows when to rein the humour in and get serious, but for the most part ensures that his It is at once an unexpectedly hilarious rollercoaster ride of a horror movie and also genuinely scary at the same time.
