10 Reasons Why Chris Nolan Should Stay Away From James Bond

2. A Nolan Film Can Be The Best Of Times And The Worst Of Times

Dickens is a good barometer for Nolan; he specifically cited A Tale of Two Cities€™ influence on the themes and design of The Dark Knight Rises. So it shouldn€™t be too surprising that some of €˜Boz€™s weakness for baroque over-detailing hobble several Nolan films€”Rises could lose nearly an hour by trimming Matthew Modine€™s already-forgettable dithering police chief and that €˜army infiltrating Gotham€™ blind alley subplot. But even its more lauded prequel takes a few detours€”the Joker€™s concluding €˜two boats€™ poser makes such an obvious point, and comes to such an obvious conclusion (who are the €˜real€™ criminals, do you see? Oh, wait, you do). No amount of hectic inter-cutting and Zimmer BWAAAAMMMMing can compensate for basic lapses in logic€”and like the €˜Boo-hoo Bond€™, it€™s something James is already no stranger to and probably needs to get away from.
