2. Karen Allen

It€™s unfortunate that most of the women who appeared in Indiana Jones didn€™t have sparkling careers afterwards. Kate Capshaw got lucky (she married Spielberg), but former Bond girl Alison Doody gradually faded from view. Karen Allen has continued to pop up in big-screen roles, such as John Carpenter€™s hugely underrated Starman, but you would have expected someone of her talents to have a few more big roles. Regardless of this fact, her performance is one of the very best things about Crystal Skull. Spielberg and Lucas have spoken about Indy€™s love-hate relationship with women , and Indy openly acknowledges about how all the others never lived up to her (though, let€™s be honest, only Elsa offered any real competition). Marion is a rounded, strong, three-dimensional female character who isn€™t willing to just be a plot device for Indy to rescue. Allen€™s performance has a great energy which lifts the piece €“ even if it raises the question of how two immensely charismatic people could produce someone as bland as Shia LeBeouf.
