10 Reasons Why Legacy Characters Are The Future Of The MCU

Reboots? Recasting? Who needs them?

Even if it's not an immediate one, Kevin Feige has a problem. With the end of Phase Three looming in the distance, all eyes are going to be exactly how Marvel progresses into Phase Four, and it isn't going to be easy for the man in charge of it all. The problem is that half his actors may want to stop doing MCU movies (Robert Downey Jr specifically), and the other half may be killed off when the Infinity War comes to a close. While new franchise instalments like Doctor Strange, Black Panther and Captain Marvel will obviously be due sequels (provided they make enough bank at the box office), the holy trinity of Cap, Iron Man and Thor may have to look at other options. There's no telling what the whims and wishes of the MCU actors might be when Phase Four draws to a close, but if they do wish to depart their roles, sure, there are recasting options, as Marvel have already proved in the past. There's also the dreaded 'reboot' button, but there's no sense doing that as early as Phase Four, where several new properties will have just been launched - that's a more likely scenario post-Phase Five. No, the best option is to preserve continuity and let those characters who have been waiting in the wings take the limelight...
