6. The Dialogue Between The Suit And Eddie Is Great

Prior to Venom's release, the lasting perception of the character (outside of the comics at least) was that he was a slathering mass of tentacles with a penchant for eating balloon-wielding children. Anthropomorphism was rarely attributed in typical adaptations, despite the comics having given the symbiote a voice before, so the idea of there being a constant dialogue between the creature and its host isn't one most will likely be familiar with.

Fortunately for fans, Ruben Fleischer, Tom Hardy, and the film's special-effects crew have done a remarkable job of depicting the dynamic shared between Brock and the symbiote. It's genuinely funny, with Hardy conveying the idea of Brock being a powerless agent in his own story particularly well, and there's a brilliant evolution in their relationship.

The overarching narrative lets it down in some places, particularly so, when a revelation comes late on regarding Venom's position amongst his species that doesn't make much sense at all, but Hardy's charisma keeps it going from start to finish.
