9 Recent Movie Cameos Everyone Missed
9. Bill Hader - Beau Is Afraid
You can't really be blamed for missing this cameo in Ari Aster's surreal black comedy Beau Is Afraid, given that it's a movie entirely concerned with constantly throwing the audience off-base.
But if you listen closely, you might recognise the voice of the UPS delivery man who breaks the unfortunate news to Beau (Joaquin Phoenix) that his mother has been killed - decapitated in a chandelier accident of all things, even.
It's Bill Hader.
The single-take phone call goes on for an excruciating amount of time as the seemingly traumatised delivery man attempts to tactfully break the news to a thoroughly in-denial Beau, even letting Beau call him back to ensure it is indeed his mother's phone he's calling from.
It's a sequence both utterly cringe-worthy and grimly funny, in large part because of Hader's dryly comedic performance, but Hader also physically appears in the film for a few brief seconds later.
When a news report is covering the death of Beau's mother, Hader can be seen facing away from the camera in a UPS uniform no less. Yet, it's such a fleeting, scarce glimpse you could easily miss him altogether.
According to Hader himself, he recorded the infamous phone call from his house over the course of two hours.
