10 Recent Movies That Should've Ended Earlier

7. You're Cordially Invited

You're Cordially Invited is a shameless throwback to the wacky, convoluted rom-coms of the early 2000s, and one of the most common criticisms of the film is that Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon aren't terribly convincing as a couple. Like, at all.

Jim (Ferrell) and Margot (Witherspoon) are members of separate wedding parties who learn that their family's weddings have been accidentally double-booked at the same venue.

And while it's fun to watch the pair squabble throughout, their inevitable romantic pairing ends up falling a little flat.

But after Jim and Margot share their first kiss, the movie seems to arrive at a hilarious final gag, as the goofball Jim reveals that he's the CEO of Delta Airlines - a WTF revelation which probably explains a little something about Delta Airlines' rather polarising reputation online. Sure, why not?

Except, this isn't the actual end of the movie - an additional scene leaps forward to Thanksgiving, where Jim and Margot are now a fully-fledged couple and discuss eloping together.

Considering that this romantic pairing was already flimsy-at-best, laying it on thick here really wasn't the best idea. Keeping it punchy and ending on a non-sequitur gag would've been far more effective.
